Dr. Bhat is the Interim Executive Director of the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA, a non-profit organization created by Congress to advance the mission of the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Bhat joined the Foundation in 2018 as the Director of Business Planning and Programs, with a portfolio focused on developing new activities and strategic planning. Dr. Bhat started his career at the NIH’s Fogarty International Center and later joined the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as Director of the Office of Asia and the Pacific. He subsequently left government and served in a variety of executive positions in the biopharmaceutical industry. Dr. Bhat has a Ph.D. from the George Washington University in Public Policy, a Master’s in Public Policy from Duke University, and a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, also from Duke University.
